Introduction: Break the Cycle Without Misreading the Bible

A Christian can take spiritual warfare seriously without becoming superstitious. A Christian can acknowledge family history without becoming imprisoned by it. A Christian can pray for deliverance while also learning new skills, entering treatment, setting boundaries, making restitution, and changing financial or relational habits. These are not competing paths. They are often parts of one faithful response. The central claim of this book is that total breakthrough is not achieved by finding the most dramatic explanation. It is achieved by bringing every inherited pattern under the lordship of Jesus Christ and responding according to truth. Some things must be confessed. Some must be forgiven. Some must be renounced. Some must be treated. Some must be learned. Some must be unlearned. Some require safety plans, professional care, or long-term discipleship. Freedom is strongest when it is not built on fear. In Christ, the believer does not begin as a helpless victim of ancestry. The believer begins with grace, truth, the Spirit, Scripture, community, and a new identity. From that place, the past can be examined honestly without being enthroned as destiny.
