Introduction: From an Open Bible to a Formed Life
The Bible can be open on the table while its words remain far from the center of our lives. We read a chapter before the day begins, underline one sentence, and then hurry into appointments, messages, worries, and decisions. By evening, we may remember that we read but not what we read. A reading plan starts in January with energy, slows in Leviticus, and disappears somewhere among unfamiliar names. A troubling verse raises a question that no one seems willing to hear. A confident teacher quotes a passage as if its meaning were obvious, while another teacher uses the same passage to argue the opposite. It is not a promise that you will remember every name, date, or sentence. It is not a claim that one method will remove all disagreement. It is a picture of Colossians 3:16, where Paul calls the word of Christ to dwell richly among believers. A guest visits. A resident rearranges the house. Scripture stays when it is we
